Fall 2016 Capsule: Top 10 Picks

When I think of Fall, the first things that come to mind are the crisp, cool, breezy days; the beautiful, changing colors of the trees; the yummy, enticing smells and flavors of pumpkin spice; and the general, cozy sensation of wrapping yourself up in your favorite warm layers of sweaters, coats, and more.
With this in mind, I am sharing my Top 10 Picks from J.Crew’s recently-released Fall 2016 Collection. The colors, patterns, and textures this season are simply beautiful and some of my favorites to-date. Varied pinks, rich navy-blues, houndstooth, stripes, and  intricate florals – there’s a little bit of everything to help in transitioning your wardrobe now (even if it’s still a scorching 100 degrees outside, like it is here in L.A.!)

Aren't these downright swoon-worthy?
I can see these pieces easily mixed-and-matched for numerous classic and striking outfits suitable for all occasions. I also love that each of these pieces can be layered. For example, for added warmth, I would simply add navy, opaque tights with the pink houndstooth skirt, and pair the combo with the peony-pink Tippi sweater and navy, ruffled blazer. And if I wanted to throw in some fun pattern-mixing for more visual interest and dimension, I would add the beautiful silk scarf; it would serve as the pretty 'cherry on top.'
Which pieces are you loving from this collection and how would you wear them? I'd love to hear your ideas!
Thanks for reading, and have a lovely evening!

Poppy Florals & Dark Skinnies

Floral Peplum Top (here) // Modern Skinny Ankle Jeans (here, similar here) //
Crystal Statement Necklace (similar here) // Pink Suede Pumps (similar here, here, here)
Today’s look features this bright, floral peplum top that’s been on heavy rotation these past several Summer weekends. It’s the perfect piece to either dress up with a slimming pencil skirt or to dress down with trousers or skinny jeans.  It’s true that I am fairly over-dressed most days of the week by preference –  you will usually find me in skirts, blouses, and dresses about 95% of the time – but on days where I’m just out and about running errands or enjoying more semi-casual events with friends or family, a pretty peplum top and a well-fitting pair of dark, skinny jeans is my combo of choice.
The print in this top is so eye-catching and ideal for either Spring or Summer. The bright, poppy-red and mauve-pink colors of the flowers contrast perfectly with the classic black of the interwoven leaves and the overall creamy, linen background color. The print pairs nicely with red, coral, mauve or blush, cream,  and a host of other complimentary colors, making it highly versatile.  And, if you adore the print as much as I do, you’ll be happy to know that it’s also available in a fit-and-flare dress, pencil skirt, and shorts – all of which can either be paired together or separately for endless mix-and-match combos! This top is not only beautiful, but extremely comfortable and flattering; just throw it on and go! I’m wearing size XSP for reference, and the fit is a little more on the blousy side, but that doesn’t deter from the overall look, in my opinion. I highly recommend it!
To counter the slightly flowy silhouette of the peplum top, I paired it with dark, skinny ankle jeans. I find that this combo keeps the overall look more streamlined and balanced in terms of fit. The dark wash is extremely slimming and flattering, and perfect for a more dressy-casual look. Plus, the ankle-fit elongates my legs and creates the illusion of height on my petite frame (and I’ll take any help I can get in that area, haha!)  I sized up for a more comfortable fit, and am wearing size 25P for reference. The petite sizing works perfectly for me with its 26” inseam, and hits me right at the ankle as it should.
To pull everything together, I added a sparkly, crystal statement necklace and pink, suede pumps; it keeps the look slightly more dressy and feminine.
As always, thanks for reading, and have a lovely evening!

Grapefruit & Lace / Sale Alert

Mock-Neck Sweater (here, similar here) //
Floral-Cut Lace Skirt (here, similar here, here) //
Patent Dome Satchel - old (similar here, here) // Patent Pumps (here) //
Pearl Necklace - old (similar here)
Today's look encompasses everything I adore in an outfit: pretty, classic, feminine details. A warm grapefruit-pink color, lacy cut-out detailing, classic pearls, versatile nude accessories -- what's not to love?
Ann Taylor just gets it right every single time. I find myself shopping there frequently (for years, actually); the clothing and accessories seem to best fit my personal style with their smart, graceful, chic and versatile pieces that easily take you from a day at the office to a girls' night out or to a date night.
This outfit is no exception. I immediately loved this mock-neck sweater when it was released this Spring, and knew it would see plenty of use. The grapefruit-pink color is gorgeous, the weight of the knit is not too heavy, and the sleeves are a modest elbow-length, which works well for an office or other conservative venue since the shoulders and upper arms are covered. It also runs true-to-size, albeit a little on the short side, which works well for petites (I'm 5'2" for reference) and size XS fits well. I snagged this sweater on sale -- another plus -- along with this beautiful, floral-cut full skirt. I love it to pieces! The silhouette is so lovely and flattering, and the laser-cut detailing is perfection with its "cameo pink" color peeking through the lace. It's the kind of skirt that makes you want to twirl, and I can't tell you how many compliments I've received while wearing it.
Note: I sized up in the skirt, and am wearing a size 0 since the waistband has zero stretch and I wanted to be able to tuck in blouses and sweaters with ease. If you're in between sizes, definitely size up. Also, note that several sizes have been popping back for the sweater and skirt, so keep checking online if your size is sold out.
To keep the focus on the intricate details of the skirt, I opted for classic, neutral accessories to finish the look: nude patent pumps, a nude patent dome satchel, and an elegant strand of pearls that I knotted to add visual interest. This outfit was one of my favorites for a recent date night with my hubby, and I'm sure it will be a repeat offender for a variety of other occasions!

Before I go, I wanted to let you know that Ann Taylor's "Friends of Ann" sale event is currently under way -- get 40% off your purchase + free shipping (no minimum) with code "VIPFRIENDS." Shop the sale here.
The sale ends tonight at midnight (8/24 at 12am PST.)
As always, thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Fab Finds: $50 or Less

Hi, ladies!

It's finally Friday and I'm kicking it off with a slew of Fab Finds for only $50 or less! (*happy dance*)

First, let me just say that I wholeheartedly believe that true style doesn't equate to having expensive or designer things; it's about taking what you have on-hand at any given price point and utilizing it to its fullest potential. It should make you feel pretty, confident, and most importantly -- true to yourself. Who cares if your blouse is a $2 thrifted find or that it isn't one of the many "popular" items featured in current magazines or on your favorite bloggers. If you love it, wear it. End of story.

I rarely pay full price for anything I buy. Yes, I am that girl searching promo codes and stalking websites at all kinds of odd hours (any nursing mommas out there relate?) until I find the best prices that entice me to buy. Am I fortunate enough to snag everything I want once it goes on sale? Nope. Things sell out right from under my nose all the time (I'm looking at you, #Nsale), which can be the price you pay for holding out for the best deal, but that's alright; it happens!

My goal with this post was to curate a variety of fashion boards with affordable pieces that 1) could be easily mixed and matched to offer greater versatility for your wardrobe, and 2) allow you to stretch your dollar without compromising style.

I hope you will love these collections as much as I do! I've rounded up everything from soft, floral pastels; yummy, candy colors; summery citrus and whimsical flamingo prints, to rich and earthy tones for Fall.

Just scroll through and click on any of the items beneath each fashion board to see their prices or to shop!
