OH, pretty polka dots. I just can't say no to them!

I really wasn't planning on adding another polka-dotted piece to my wardrobe, but when I stumbled on this dress while doing some online browsing, I instantly fell in love with it and all its pretty details! The super-affordable price of $24 also swayed me, and I quickly added it to my shopping cart. And you know what? I have zero regrets because it's absolutely darling!

It's All in the Details

I've said it before, but I'm always drawn to the pretty, little details. And this dress has them all:

 - cold-shoulder details with feminine, flutter sleeves*
- adjustable spaghetti straps for the perfect fit
- a back zipper for easy entry
 - a flattering fit-n-flare silhouette
- perfectly-proportioned polka dots

The polka dots are my favorite, of course. They add a splash of whimsy to an already sweet and charming dress. And have I told you how much I love the flirty, flounced hem? It's just too cute for words!

(*If you prefer solid sleeves instead of this cold-shoulder style, I adore this dress, too!)

I'm wearing a size Small, which is the smallest size available, and it fits me well. I'm 5'2" and ~99 lbs. for fit reference. The dress measurements, taken while laying flat, are:

~34" across bust
~26" across waist
~37" across hips
~37" overall length (varies based on shoulder-strap adjustment)

The length hits me right at the knees, which I prefer, especially for this dress style. The waist and hips run a tad wide on me, but not enough to warrant any alterations. The dress itself is meant to be light and airy and to drape nicely without being too form-fitting, and it does just that. It has the most lovely, flowy shape and makes you want to twirl!

I do want to point out that the fabric is on the thinner side, and is a poly-spandex blend (95% polyester, 5% spandex.) It's slightly stretchy and machine-washable, which is always a plus in my book! The dress itself is unlined, so you'll need a slip for more opacity. I personally don't mind this, though. I'm wearing a solid, white bralette/bandeau-style bra and half-slip for this look. Both are lightweight and don't add bulk or make you unbearably hot, which is key -- especially when it's still nearly 80 degrees out!

Since SoCal doesn't really start to see Fall-like weather until mid-October (except for the occasional chilly mornings/evenings) I'm all too happy to take advantage of the warmer days by getting extra use of my favorite dresses. This is one of them since it's so easy to just throw on and go!

Once temps do cool down, I plan on layering this with a long, open-line cardi or cropped, drape-front jacket (a blush or toffee-colored one would look so cute!) and tights. I'm actually thinking of ordering this same dress in the dark floral print -- the colors are ideal for Fall and would pair nicely with cozy layers of mustard, chestnut, and other rich, autumnal colors.

For this particular look, I wanted to keep the accessories feminine and sweet, just like the dress. I chose a vintage leather bag (or "pocketbook" as my grandmother would call this style) in a pretty blush. I adore the simple, structured shape and the gold hardware. The nostalgia it evokes is a special bonus, too.

I also chose my favorite nude patent pumps to elongate my legs and to keep the focus on the dress.

Classic, pearl jewelry finishes the look.

I wore this dress for a recent lunch date and some light shopping with my hubby and received compliments galore -- from both him and passersby -- and felt ladylike and demure all day. For only $24, I'd say that's a win! ;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope you're having a great start to the week!
